Dear Parents of Title I (Reading) Students:
The Algona Community School District (A.C.S.D.), has been the agency for providing Title I reading support to the eligible elementary children of both the A.C.S.D. and Seton schools. The federal funds have been generated by a formula based on free/reduced lunch count and school age population.Over the years parent meetings, home/school compacts, parent/teacher conferences and etc. have been our methods of communication. While those methods will still be utilized, the federal government under the guidelines of No Child Left Behind (N.C.L.B.) has formalized additional procedures.
The Algona Community School Board of Education has adopted a “Parent Involvement” policy.I have attached a copy.Additionally, an end of year survey will be sent to you for you to complete and return. We have been extremely happy with the type and amount of parent support and communication, but realize we can improve. It will be important, as we work together, to realize the N.C.L.B. goals as well as improving the reading proficiency levels of our children.Look for more opportunities to work together as we support improved reading proficiency in our district.
Sincerely,

Brad Sudol
Elementary Principal & Title I Coordinator
